Crash Leaves Dutchess 32-Year-Old In Serious Condition, Police Say

A 32-year-old man is in serious condition following an early morning crash in the region.

The collision occurred in Dutchess County in the town of Fishkill around 6 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7 in the area of Route 9D and I-84.

According to the Town of Fishkill Police, officers responded to the area after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a car versus a pedestrian crash.

When officers arrived, it appeared a northbound vehicle on Route 9D collided with a person who was traveling southbound on an electric scooter. 

A preliminarily investigation and witness statements reported the northbound vehicle was in the left lane (Newburgh-Beacon Bridge approach) operated by a 42-year-old Beacon woman, when the scooter driver, traveling southbound in the northbound lane attempted to cross both lanes colliding with the woman's vehicle, police said.

The scooter operator sustained what appeared to be serious physical injuries, police said.

He was transported to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh by Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

The New York State Police are assisting the Town of Fishkill Police with the accident reconstruction.

The names of those involved were not released by police.
